MEET THE FACULTY: MRS. LÊ

My love for English language arts and social studies took off at University of Manitoba, where I spent much of my time writing for the university newspaper, The Manitoban, and working at the Elizabeth Dafoe archives while pursing my Arts and Education degrees.
My daughter attended BH Beginnings in 2014, and it was at this time that I noticed the difference a Balmoral Hall education makes. The girls we encountered were confident and well-rounded, and the teachers were caring, supportive, and innovative. As an educator of young women, my proudest moments are when I see my students breaking down stereotypes and excelling in fields typically dominated by men.
It is an exciting time to be an educator. We are preparing our students for jobs that have not even been created yet — jobs we do not even know exist. What is most exciting for me is seeing young women at the top of their field as computer programmers, animators, and engineers.
I love finding new ways to challenge my students, and I try to infuse all of my lessons with a variety of problem-solving tasks that result in learning more than just content. Hopefully, my girls are picking up soft skills like grit, determination, empathy, and design-thinking.
I look forward to the exciting new opportunities that teaching at Balmoral Hall brings, especially the endless possibilities for my students to ideate and create in the new Centre for Arts & Design.
