Your Legacy

Meliora Petens Legacy Society

Leave a Legacy Month occurs each year in May. It is a month dedicated to wills, estates, and charitable giving. Everyone needs a will in order for their assets to be distributed according to wishes. If you do not have a will, we encourage you to prepare one with the assistance of a lawyer.

If you have a will, information recently released by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) may affect your estate plans for Canadian charities and requires immediate attention. We encourage you to review detailed information below carefully with your legal advisor, or inquire about estate law in your area.

Did you know?
While creating or amending your will, you can make a big impact on charitable organizations that are special to you while not reducing what you leave to family and friends. If you would like to make an impact – perhaps even larger than you feel is possible during your lifetime - consider a bequest. Tax credits applied to your estate offset income tax and can assist in preserving your assets for other beneficiaries.

Simply put, your hard-earned dollars can be either paid in taxes or can help organizations close to your heart.

For more information on how you can make a difference with an estate gift, we encourage you to read through the information provided in the brochure below.

Please become a member of the Meliora Petens Legacy Society today by including the school in your estate plans and sending in the confidential form of intentions, found on the left.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Balmoral Hall advancement team at or (204) 784-1616.
