INAUGURAL AUCTION RAISES $60K FOR GIRLS OF PROMISE
In Spring 2021, Balmoral Hall School Foundation held an online auction to support endowments.
We are happy to report that it was a resounding success, raising nearly $60,000! Thank you to parents, grandparents, alumnae, faculty, staff, administrators, and friends who participated with donations and bids! Thanks also to the companies and institutions who came on board as donors and sponsors.
We are in the beginning stages of planning another auction for Spring 2022, and we are confident that we will be offering an even more exciting array of items, including some special experiences. More details will follow in the next few months, so please stay tuned!
The money raised by the auction was added to the $3 million previously endowed for bursaries. Those dollars are invested forever and never spent. Annually, BH Foundation grants a portion of interest income to Balmoral Hall for bursaries. In this way, we are helping to remove financial barriers so that more girls are able to experience a Balmoral Hall School education.
Often, we focus on the benefit offered to the girl who receives a bursary, but we all gain by making room for more students at Balmoral Hall. In so doing, we create a school that is lively, accepting, and rich in diverse views and experiences. Girls who attend a school where there are many different voices gain a layered and nuanced education to take with them into the world.
Many of the auction committee volunteers from last year have agreed to work with us again, and we are pleased to have some new volunteers join us. We are always happy to welcome more people, so please get in touch with Genevieve Cloutier ’03 at alumnae@balmoralhall.ca if you would like to volunteer or donate an item to the auction.
