MEET THE FACULTY: MS OSBORNE

They say variety is the spice of life, and this is what I have enjoyed most about my time at Balmoral Hall! Through my 15 years working at the school, I have worked as a classroom teacher in several different Junior School grades, then moved into Middle School as their information and communications technology (ICT) teacher while maintaining my Junior School connections as their technology integration coach. A couple of years ago, we added Grade 9 Venture Development to my portfolio, along with professional learning group (PLG) leadership.

Last fall, I moved into Benidickson Centre for Arts & Design and am now incorporating all the fabulous new technology in the design lab into my classes. It is amazing to see the girls embrace the new tools they have to work with and to watch them create! I love to learn and so have enjoyed all the new challenges I have been able to undertake.

Inquiry-based learning and design thinking have always been the golden thread of my teaching career, and I have enjoyed intertwining these in every area I have worked in.

I followed my heart to Winnipeg from Scotland in 2003, having gained my Master of Arts at University of St Andrews and then teaching English in Japan, where I met my Winnipegger husband. I completed my Bachelor of Education at University of Manitoba and began teaching at Balmoral Hall School soon after. In 2018, I completed my Master's in Social Foundations of Education. Now, we are joyfully watching our daughter thrive in Kindergarten here at Balmoral Hall. I am looking forward to continuing to watch her grow as I welcome new challenges ahead.
