Our Programs

Our STEAM Based curriculum

According to studies by the National Coalition of Girls’ Schools (NCGS), girls’ school graduates are more likely to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM). By emphasizing these subjects, while incorporating visual and performing arts, our girls receive a fulfilling, challenging educational esperience that prepares them for post-secondary education and the careers of their choice.
The Balmoral Hall School Capstone offers an enriched, signature curriculum inspiring girls to excel, to reach, to lead, and to care.

Our educators understand how girls learn. They are dedicated to bringing out the best in each girl, by encouraging her strengths and providing her with the support she needs. While our programs are demanding, our expectations, high, our learning environment is collaborative and nurturing.

Our commitment to Balmoral Hall School families is that every girl graduates with passion, with purpose, and with post-secondary pursuits. We nurture her potential and challenge her to grow. We prepare her for academic and professional success, connecting her with principled, compassionate alumnae who possess the leadership qualities that universities and employers expect.

Learning and growing

List of 3 items.

  • + BH Beginnings Child Care

The Reggio Emilia Approach motivates our early childhood educators and caregivers who incorporate best practices in inquiry-based learning. We encourage girls as young as 2 to learn, know, and understand through play. Three-year-olds are introduced to dance as well as other specialist subjects.
  • + Junior School

We provide Junior Kindergarten to Grade 5 students with a transdisciplinary curriculum that is based on research and practices, specifically International Baccalaureate’s Primary Years Programme. Junior School builds the foundation where students are guided to become independent learners and critical thinkers. Balmoral Hall School is committed to preparing girls and young women to be competent, confident leaders in an ever-changing world. In addition to a rigorous, inquiry-based academic curriculum, Junior School faculty address social, physical, emotional, and cultural needs. We strive to nurture the growth of a caring, responsible citizen with an increased understanding of the world around them — one who is able to think critically and independently. These learning experiences promote the ideals and qualities of a student who strives to be knowledgeable, principled, and open-minded.
  • + Middle and Senior School

Balmoral Hall School’s signature Capstone education model in Grade 6–12 is reflective of our vision, mission, and values and allows us to provide a personalized program that is rigorous, relevant, and research-based. Capstone programming empowers our students to be prepared for their future academic and professional pursuits. Students are involved in authentic, meaningful learning with continuous formative assessment and relevant, timely feedback. Our faculty continue to learn from and with education leaders and technology experts at Project Zero, Laurel’s Center for Research on Girls, Microsoft, Innovation Alley, and elsewhere. We value innovation and focus on an inquiry-driven, student-centred approach to learning. To ensure that creativity is valued, arts are integrated along with STEM, also known as STEAM. Balmoral Hall School’s female-centred environment promotes independence, confidence, and resilience.
    Grade 6–8
In Middle School, we help students extend their knowledge of essential skills as they develop a sense of identity and become more aware of their unique abilities and interests.
    Grade 9–12
In Senior School, we facilitate the achievement of individual potential and inspire a love of learning. We offer a varied curriculum that enhances and exceeds provincial requirements and prepares young women for their post-secondary education and future careers. Our academic requirements encourage each student to design a rigorous program compatible with her abilities, interests, and goals. Students may further enrich their learning through accelerated programs as well as The College Board’s Advanced Placement courses.
