STUDENTS SPEAK UP FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE AS FINALISTS IN VIDEO CONTEST

By Chloë McComb, Faculty

Presented with an opportunity from CBC Manitoba to create a video to raise awareness about the impacts of climate change on human rights, our globally minded, empowered BH girls were keen to participate.

Alice, Simrit, Kerry, and Matheson teamed up to represent Balmoral Hall School and submitted a three-minute video {click here to watch} to CBC Manitoba's "Take 3 for Climate Justice" challenge; we were thrilled when CBC Manitoba announced that our video was selected as one of three grand prize winners with entries from 66 schools across the province.

Our team will represent Balmoral Hall at an upcoming climate change event at Canadian Museum for Human Rights, where they will connect with other youth activists and meet Bill Nye The Science Guy.

As contest winners, our team's video will be shown at the event, and we will have the opportunity to work with Bill Nye and learn more about environmental advocacy.

"Many small acts when multiplied by thousands, millions, 7.7 billion and counting can transform the world. Please act now! Let's work together to make that transformation a positive one."

That's the message our young environmentalists wholeheartedly shared in their video {click here to watch} and on CBC Manitoba's Information Radio with Host Marcy Markusa, February 27, 2020.
