KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS & THEIR LOVELY EAGLE FEATHERS

By Arda Thomson, Faculty

Kindergarten continues to make art connections to the Seven Sacred Teachings, working with Stephanie Middagh, one of our class parents and studio owner of Artful Owl. After creating clay turtles for truth, we used watercolours and the resist art technique to paint beavers for wisdom. Most recently, we decorated laser-cut wooden eagle feathers for love.

To start, we spent some time in the design lab to observe the process of laser cutting, which Ms Osborne did for us. We then looked at paintings representing beadwork, inspiring the girls to decorate their own eagle feathers using Sharpies. These beautiful works of love are on display now next to Mrs. Haverick's desk.
