Mrs. Balcaen & Lindsay C. at Rupert's Land Debate & Public Speaking Tournament. (November 2019)

THANKS FOR SUPPORTING OUR ANNUAL DEBATE & PUBLIC SPEAKING TOURNAMENT

By Carissa (Nikkel) Balcaen '02, Faculty

Please join me in congratulating Debate & Public Speaking Prefect Lindsay C., who placed first overall in persuasive speaking, tied for fourth in parliamentary debate, received the top score for Balmoral Hall, and received the top individual speaker award for our annual Rupert's Land Debate & Public Speaking Tournament, Nov. 17/19. Congratulations!

A special shout-out to Jozi O. and Janet V. in Grade 8, who thought they would be volunteering as speakers and timers and found themselves debating against grades 10 to 12 students instead. They received special medals for their risk-taking and willingness to step in when needed.

Finally, most sincere gratitude to the many tournament volunteers from student speakers and timers to parent, alumnae, and faculty judges. The success of this annual event is wholly dependent on the support of our full school community. On behalf of all competitors and coaches, thank you!
