Each year, BH girls from Child Care to Grade 12 share their commitment to women's cancer awareness by inviting neighbouring students and teachers in grades 4 to 6 from Mulvey School to join them on a community walk.
Since 2001, Girls for the Cure has been held annually in October, also known as Women's Cancer Awareness Month. This event would not be possible without Balmoral Hall School's ongoing partnership with Chemo Savvy, a local dragon boat racing team of breast cancer survivors. Together, we raise funds for women's cancer research, because it affects all of us as we care for our loved ones in terms of prevention, treatment, or symptom management.
With donations directed to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, in support of its Guardian Angel Benefit, more than $373,000 has been raised to date.
Girls for the Cure provides a remarkable opportunity to build friendships, foster dialogue within our community, and gain a better understanding of women's cancer.
For one day every October, West Broadway is transformed by a sea of pink as we walk to and from Manitoba’s legislative grounds, united in our efforts to support those affected by women's cancer. We hope that when you see us together, you will believe (as we do) that there is hope. There is strength to be drawn from this belief.
