Editor’s note: These are excerpts from a speech delivered at Fall Opening Assembly on September 9, 2022.
After years of not being able to celebrate school events in person, we are finally back and better than ever! This year, the student council is starting from a blank slate. We are not following any path and are paving our own, creating our own destiny by rewriting the stars.
This year, students will be truly unstoppable in achieving our goals and creating an unforgettable year. We want students to feel empowered to create change and innovation in their lives at home, at school, and in the outside world. We hope students will listen to themselves, follow their passions, and fight for their opinions. Rewriting the stars is never easy, but with the support of our community, there can be endless possibilities.
As the wise William Shakespeare once wrote, “It is not in the stars to hold our destinies, but ourselves.” The last couple of years have shown us that the future is never certain, but one thing that remains constant is each of our abilities to react, adapt, and overcome. By rewriting the stars, we are challenging every student at Balmoral Hall School to take control of their destiny by being daring, courageous, and truly unstoppable.
