The Yes She Can award is presented annually by Balmoral Hall School to celebrate positive role models for young women and to recognize the achievements of women who have gained national and international prominence in their fields of endeavour.

 

 

2007 Yes She Can Award Recipient

Madeleine K. Albright is a principal of The Albright Group LLC, a global strategy firm and the 2007 recipient of Balmoral Hall School's "Yes She Can" Award, presented in recognition of exceptional women who embody the Balmoral Hall vision of "Believe, Achieve, Succeed!"  Proceeds go to the Balmoral Hall School Endowment Fund at the Winnipeg Foundation, providing financial support to deserving young women in our community.

Dr. Albright served as the 64th Secretary of State of the United States. In 1997, she was named the first woman Secretary of State and became, to that time, the highest ranking woman in the history of the U.S. government. From 1993 to 1997, Dr. Albright served as the United States Permanent Representative to the United Nations and as a member of the President’s Cabinet.

Dr. Albright is the co-chair of the Commission on the Legal Empowerment of the Poor and also serves on the Board of Directors of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Board of Trustees for the Aspen Institute. Dr. Albright earned a B.A. from Wellesley College, Masters and Doctorate from Columbia University’s Department of Public Law and Government, as well as a Certificate from the Russian Institute.

 

2006 Yes She Can Award Recipient

Barbara G. Stymiest, Chief Operating Officer of RBC Financial Group is the 2006 recipient of Balmoral Hall School's "Yes She Can" Award, presented in recognition of exceptional women who embody the Balmoral Hall vision of "Believe, Achieve, Succeed!"  Proceeds go to the Balmoral Hall School Endowment Fund at the Winnipeg Foundation, providing financial support to deserving young women in our community.

 

Ms. Stymiest has had a distinguished career in Canada's financial sector.  Prior to joining RBC Financial Group in 2004, she served as the Chief Executive Office of the TSX Group Inc.  Ms. Stymiest is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario and the only executive from a Canadian company to be named to the Fortune International Power 50.

 

 

2005 Yes She Can Award Recipient

The Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin, P.C., Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada.

After a distinguished career in western Canada as a lawyer, professor and provincial court justice, Chief Justice McLachlin was appointed to the Supreme Court of Canada in 1989 and appointed Chief Justice of Canada in 2000. A native of Alberta, Chief Justice McLachlin sits on the Privy Council of Canada and serves a chairperson of numerous organizations including the Advisory Council of the Order of Canada.
