BH GIRLS CHALLENGE UNIVERSITY LEVEL COURSES

Jennifer Pawluk, Communications Specialist
As a university preparatory school for girls, Balmoral Hall School offers its students unique opportunities to excel in the classroom. With a variety of Advanced Placement (AP) courses timetabled each year, students benefit from an educational experience that encourages them to reach their post-secondary goals. Of the 36 graduates of Balmoral Hall School's Class of 2016, 92% attempted at least one university level course through their Advanced Placement (AP) studies.

Annually in spring, The College Board facilitates the writing of Adavanced Placement (AP) examinations so that students are able to obtain university credit.
In 2015/16, nearly 60 Senior School (grades 9 to 12) students enrolled in a dozen Advanced Placement (AP) courses offered at Balmoral Hall School, writing more than 90 Advanced Placement (AP) examinations altogether.

Three of them were recognized as Advanced Placement (AP) Scholars, receiving scores of 3 or higher on three or more Advanced Placement (AP) examinations.

Two of them were recognized as Advanced Placement (AP) Scholars with Honor, receiving an average score of at least 3.25 with scores of 3 or higher on four or more Advanced Placement (AP) examinations.

Two of them were recognized as Advanced Placement (AP) Scholars with Distinction, receiving an average score of at least 3.5 with scores of 3 or higher on five or more Advanced Placement (AP) examinations.

One student was recognized as an Advanced Placement (AP) National Scholar (Canadian), receiving an average score of at least 4 with scores of 4 or higher on five or more Advanced Placement (AP) examinations.

Also of note, a Grade 9 student recieved a (perfect) score of 5 on the Advanced Placement (AP) examination in Mandarin, which she had enrolled in online.

In 2016/17, Balmoral Hall School continues to foster its students' leadership in Advanced Placement (AP) studies with courses now being offered in two additional subject areas: art and computer science.
