Academic ProgramBalmoral Hall is committed to providing a personalized approach to education, and challenging students to become self-directed, self-motivated lifelong learners. The academic program is balanced between sciences, humanities and socio-cultural content. Student performance is regularly evaluated using tests, projects, assignments and exams. Students choose from a variety of subjects for university and post-secondary preparation. Balmoral Hall offers an Advanced Placement Program in Grade 11 and Grade 12. Students may pursue university-level studies while in high school and receive credit or advanced placement from universities that participate in the Advanced Placement Program. The International Team provides curriculum and ESL support to students. The team includes the Head of School, the Principals of Middle and Senior School, ESL, homeroom and subject teachers, the guidance counsellor and the Director and Assistant Directors of Residence. Canadian and American universities require a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) for admission. Students applying to enter Balmoral Hall for Grade 12 must have a minimum TOEFL score of 550. Career choices and post-secondary preparation for university is a high priority at Balmoral Hall. Almost all graduating students are accepted into the university or college of their choice. OrientationNew international students arrive one week before school starts and are met at the Winnipeg International Airport by a school representative. They participate in an orientation that introduces them to the school, faculty, fellow students and the friendly City of Winnipeg. |
