Balmoral Hall School invites students to be curious, imaginative and artistic within the Arts and Technology Pillar. Performing arts, visual arts and technology are some of the many communication styles that students can utilize to build knowledge and understand the world around them. They all combine artistic independence yet maintain a disciplinary rigour with an interdisciplinary scope. This is based on the philosophy of the International Baccalaureate Programme. We offer students an opportunity to work in a personalized learning environment focused on critical and creative thinking.

Education in the Arts is essential for all students. Each of the Arts disciplines (Performing Arts, Drama and Visual Arts) offers a rich body of knowledge that enables students to understand their world in ways that support and enhance their learning in other core subjects. In addition, students learn how each of the Arts contributes to their own sensitivity of the aesthetic qualities of life. Students learn to see what they look at, hear what they listen to and feel what they touch, enriching their learning experiences.

The depth of instruction and breadth of fine arts offerings in the visual arts, music, dance and theatre, demonstrates Balmoral Hall School's commitment to providing the highest level of instruction in the Arts.

As part of the MYP Programme, Technology is taught as a course througout all five years of the programme. (Gr. 6 to Gr. 10.) In Grade 9 (Year 4), Desktop Publishing is offered and in Gr. 10 (Year 5), students will have the opportunity to take Digital Pictures (Photography). “The emphasis of ICT courses is on student learning to solve problems, accomplish tasks and express creativity both individually and collaboratively. Students will learn to use today’s technology for tasks at school and in their personal lives. “ (Manitoba Curriculum Framework of Outcomes)

In addition, technology is integrated into the BH curriculum through each of the academic disciplines. Students use a variety of technological tools and subject specific software, from digital cameras and scanners to multimedia presentation software and computer-based research to explore a specific theme. The result is that no matter what the students are studying, they enthusiastically embrace technology and its endless possibilities. The girls use laptop computers as a tool in their daily program. They benefit from increased organizational and collaborative skills as well as enhanced research and critical thinking skills.
