Grade 6 - 12
How to Apply
The admissions process is designed to assist potential students, their parents and Balmoral Hall School in making an informed and appropriate decision on enrollment. We want to get to know the applicants and we would like students and their parents to become familiar with Balmoral Hall School, its programs and educational philosophy.
To determine an applicant's readiness to meet the challenges and demands of a Balmoral Hall School education, consideration is given to a student's previous reports, entrance examination results, extra-curricular interests and personal interview impressions.
Middle and Senior School - Grades 6 to 12
Step 1 - Complete and return the application form, and the applicant and parent questionnaires to the Admissions Office together with a copy of the applicant's most recent report card and a non-refundable $150 application/assessment fee.
Step 2 - Complete and sign top portion of teacher recommendation and submit to appropriate teachers.
Step 3 - Early in the registration year, the Admissions Office will contact applicants to schedule Entrance Day appointments. Applicants will write the Entrance Examinations assessing reading, writing and mathematical skills and attend an interview with a faculty member. Applicants are invited to have lunch and spend the afternoon in classes meeting staff and students. Appointments are scheduled for parents to meet with the Principal of Middle School, Senior School or the Head of School at this time. Note: Out of town applicants may contact the Admissions Office to make special arrangements for Entrance Day.
Notification of Acceptance
Formal acceptance letters are mailed to parents in early Spring. These letters fall into two categories;
- Accepted immediately for September entrance.
- Accepted but remain on a waiting list pending space availability. These applicants will be notified as soon as there is an opportunity for entry.
Registration forms and Enrollment Contracts along with financial information will be mailed to applicants accepted for September entrance. Applicants who have been awarded an Entrance Scholarship will be notified at this time. Notification of Bursaries will be sent separately.
All forms and documentation, including a non-refundable deposit of $1,000 will be required to ensure an applicant's registration.
The School's decision to accept a student is based upon a number of factors, including academic potential, previous academic achievements, qualities of citizenship, extra-curricular accomplishments and the availability of space in each class. Special consideration may be given to qualified applicants who are siblings of students currently attending or who have had a member of their family attend Balmoral Hall School.
Late Applications
Arrangements can be made for late applicants dependent upon space availability in the requested grade. Please contact the Admissions Office at (204) 784-1600 ext. 621 or by email.
