Dance Program
Fee:$ 385.00 September to May
Year end recital costumes may be required with costs ranging between $65 and $85.

Tap:
Tap dance is one of the most popular forms of dance. It is fun and upbeat form of dance that teaches rhythm and coordination. Tap styles have evolved through the years and our focus will be teaching the students a wide vocabulary of tap that will be built upon at each level.

Beginner: Focus on the fundamentals of tap dance, rhythm and coordination. For students who are new to the dance program, from grades 1-4.
Wednesday 3:30-4:15

Intermediate: Building upon the fundamentals and expanding the knowledge and tap vocabulary. For students with 1-2 years experience in the dance program, from grades 5-8
Wednesday 3:45-4:45

Advanced: this level there will be more complex combinations and is for students wanting a challenge. 2 or more years experience in tap, grades 8-12
Monday 4:45-5:45

Jazz:
Jazz is a diverse and dynamic dance style that improves flexibility and coordination. Taught in a fast-paced, challenging and fun environment, students learn technique as well as dance combinations to both classical jazz and current music.

Beginner: Focus on building elementary technique and coordination while having a fun and exploring their individual ability. For students who are new to the dance program, from grades 1-4.
Wednesday 4:15-5:00

Intermediate: Exploration of different styles in jazz as well as a more challenging steps and combinations. For students with 1-2 years experience in the dance program, from grades 5-8
Monday 4:45-5:45

Advanced: We want to offer a more challenging style and class for those who have had previous experience. For student with 2 or more years experience in jazz or ballet, grades 8-12
Thursday 3:45-4:45

Demi-Character:
Ballet based, Demi-Character offers a creative form of dance that teaches students to act out a role with no vocals. They are taught the basics of ballet on a more playful and relaxed setting, allowing them to use their imagination and creativity to tell a story.

Beginner: Students will learn and further their classical technique while enjoying a fun and creative class. For students who are new to the dance program, from grades 1-4.

Urban Hip Hop:
In our Hip Hop program students will be coached in an age appropriate environment in the basics of Hip Hop vocabulary, similar to that in music videos. All the latest moves and styles are taught to the music of the industry.

Beginner: Focus on basic urban movement using the ‘downbeat’ in a fun and exciting class. For students who are new to the dance program, from grades 1-5.
Wednesday 5:00-5:45

Intermediate: We also invite any of the Middle school students, who are interested. No Hip Hop experience necessary, from grades 6-8.
Monday 3:45-4:45

Advanced: For the students who are looking for a challenging class. There will be many styles of Hip Hop explored and we encourage students to be creative with their movement and own personal style.
For students from grades 7-12.

Contemporary/Lyrical:
Contemporary/Lyrical dance combines elements of ballet, modern and jazz. Commonly set to popular music with vocals or just instrumental bars. Due to its demand for intermediate to advanced technical skill and emotional focus, it is popular primarily with teenage dancers

Intermediate: For students with some jazz or ballet experience. Each student will explore their own abilities and be creative with their interpretations of both the music and the movement, from grades 5-8
Tuesday 3:45-4:45

Advanced: At this level we will be pushing the students to explore both physically and emotionally. For students with 2 or more years experience in jazz or ballet, grades 8-12

Musical Theatre:
This style of performing arts combines singing, dancing and acting, most commonly associated with Broadway productions. Our objective is to introduce the basic skills of song and dance, focusing on vocal ability while building upon existing experience and encourage them to explore their own personal performance while having fun.

Beginner I: At this level the focus will be on the basics of singing, dancing and acting, building a strong foundation. For new student to the musical theatre and dance program, grades 1-3

Beginner II: In level II there will be a greater emphasis on the dancing and acting. For the students who have taken musical theatre or dance for 1-2 years, grades 3-5

Intermediate: Focusing on performance and entertainment, with a Broadway flare. For the students with 2 or more years experience in the dance program, grades 6 - 9
Tuesday 5:00-6:00

Theatre: 10 weeks for $150.00 (first session: week of Sept 20)
(second session: Jan TBA)
Theatre is all about people: what we do, why we do it, and how we deal with the consequences of our actions. The benefits to drama students are many! Theatre enhances social awareness and teaches students to value themselves and each other. The classes will provide a playful and imaginative approach to learning that is based on natural curiosity, and the need to find creative ways of expressing themselves.

Creative Drama Gr.1-3: An excellent first level exposure to individual and group improvisation; theatre games designed to build ensemble, free up the students’ creativity and sense of play. Introduction to intentions/objectives in theatre and character building.

Creative Drama Gr. 3-5: An excellent first level exposure to individual and group improvisation; theatre games designed to build ensemble, free up the students’ creativity and sense of play. Introduction to intentions/objectives in theatre and character building.

Scene work and More Gr.6-8: Students work on a variety of age appropriate scenes for presentation. Emphasis is on using the voice and body to create a character, acting with intent, specificity required for text work, and developing listening and ensemble skills.
Thursday 5:00-6:00

Acting Shakespeare Gr.7-12: Emphasis is on text work, character, interaction, physical and vocal development of the character. This class is all about bringing classical texts to life for the students!
Monday 5:00-6:00


*** Class Level is at the discretion of the instructor. Exceptions/changes will be considered on an individual basis after the first class.

** We are offering 3 beginner classes in a row on Wednesday night. It has been shown that the 45 minute class is an optimal time for this age group. By moving into the next style we maintain their interest and can offer 3 styles to produce a well rounded dance experience.

We have done our best to offer back to back classes for your convenience. We encourage students to try all of the styles offered to establish knowledge of each style and produce well rounded students.

Art:
Full year fee (Sept to May) – $405 materials included.

Art Exploration 1 & 2
Instructors guide students through the creative process using a variety of materials, unusual ideas, and great creativity! Areas explored may include drawing, painting, collage, sculpture or printmaking.
Grades 1 -3 Monday 3:30 - 4:30
Grades 4 - 6 Friday 3:30 – 4:30

Mixed Media 1 & 2
Instructors introduce students to basic techniques and are encouraged to expand their imaginations using a variety of materials. Projects may combine: drawing, painting, collage, sculpture or printmaking.
