Course descriptions:

Introduction to Photography and Advanced Photography

Students will experience photography from a variety of different perspectives, including traditional film and darkroom techniques, digital imaging and mixed media approaches. Instruction will also focus on image literacy, the history of photography, how to select and buy equipment, and areas of student interest. A final gallery showing will be held in April showcasing all student works.

Students in Advanced Photography must have taken a photography course either through the Academy of Excellence, at Balmoral Hall, or elsewhere in order to fully benefit. The Advance Photography course will require a 3-4 hour commitment outside of class sessions, and may involve a photo field trip subject to student interest. Please contact instructor Martin Lussier at martin@studioml.ca for more information.

PLEASE NOTE: Registration fees for photography courses include 5 rolls of black and white film, 25 sheets of 8×10 photographic paper, and all darkroom chemistry required. Students will be responsible for other supplies as required, including supplying a film camera with manual controls. Additional information will be provided to all students within the first 2 weeks of classes.
