The Junior School ProgramBack to Junior School main page Guiding PrinciplesOur aim in Grades 1 to 5 is to develop children who have confidence in their own abilities, who can think for themselves, express their opinions (while respecting the opinions of others) and develop the skills to become independent learners. Our expectations are high both academically and socially – and we recognize the strong need for nurturing and guidance. The Balmoral Hall staff is aware of the need to provide for the enormous variety of individual differences within their classes and that the creation of a stimulating and challenging learning environment is a top priority for them. In Dalton House we strive to create an atmosphere where children feel respected and loved: a place where childhood is celebrated, a place of warmth, fun, joy, laughter – and learning! CurriculumThe focus on the essential elements of skills, knowledge, concepts and action ensures a balance in student learning. Another important component of the BH education is character education and earning habits. Positive personal traits, values and qualities of a lifelong learner are modeled and encouraged throughout the school.
